What is CBT?

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) aims to help people to identify problems and overcome emotional difficulties by focusing on changing negative thought patterns.

CBT looks at:

  • how you think about yourself, the world and other people
  • what you do affects your thoughts and feelings.

Rather than focusing on past events, CBT focuses on the present, looking for ways to improve your state of mind now.
